South Africa vs Australia is one of the sporting conversations to follow this October. The men’s three-Test series starts in Durban on 9 October 2026 and continues in Gqeberha and Cape Town, according to Cricket Australia’s published tour schedule.
October 2026 Test dates and venues
- First Test: 9–13 October, Kingsmead, Durban.
- Second Test: 18–22 October, St George’s Park, Gqeberha.
- Third Test: 27–31 October, Newlands, Cape Town.
Cricket Australia’s report describes Australia’s first Test return to South Africa since the 2018 tour and places the contest against the reigning World Test Championship winners. Check official match information for any schedule changes before making travel plans.
A useful way to follow a Test
If you are newer to the format, note the innings, score and wickets whenever you open a scorecard. A total alone gives an incomplete picture: the number of wickets lost and the stage of the match help explain the situation.
Follow a short passage of play and ask what changed. Was it a wicket, a partnership or a change in scoring? This makes the match easier to discuss than reacting to one isolated highlight without knowing the surrounding play.
Where to check current information
Use Cricket South Africa’s Proteas page and the linked official tour information for fixtures and match updates. Verify a broadcast listing with the broadcaster’s current guide, including the day, start time and your package’s access.
